Easter Wedding Tips

Spring is full of the sense of new beginnings, making it the perfect time for a beautiful, natural wedding. With the added bonus of a double Bank Holiday weekend, we’re seeing Easter as a particularly appealing time of year to get married and our couples find it incredibly fun to embrace the time of year as their theme.

From truly colourful, whimsical and playful weddings to traditional, wild and natural nuptials, many styles fall under the Easter umbrella. Speaking of which, brollies and wellington boots are likely to be an absolute necessity for April weddings. Ensure you have plenty lined up outside the venue and you will have some very grateful guests!

For many, springtime weddings wouldn’t be complete without the quintessential scent of daffodils permeating the air. Nothing makes us happier than a wedding venue bursting with scented narcissi, from the bride’s bouquet to the table decorations. You may want to use pale and sunshine shades of yellow as an accent colour throughout your wedding décor, incorporating it into your on the day stationery, your wedding cake decoration or your buttonholes amongst the guys.

For the rest of your flowers, keep it simple and seasonal with lilies, hydrangeas and tulips. For a very natural, rustic look, opt for potted bulbs and lots of moss that will give a casual, country feel to your decorations. To add a bit more glamour, you could make a feature of them by placing them inside bell jars or hurricane lamps as centrepieces.

If you’re not a fan of a traditional table plan then you could opt for a very unique escort card arrangement in which guests must take part in a personalised Easter egg hunt to find their place names. We’re envisaging happy chaos as everyone works out where they’re sitting but some very smug individuals when they turn up at their tables with chocolate treasure alongside hardboiled farm fresh eggs emblazoned with their names in beautiful calligraphy.

When it comes to the wedding breakfast, Easter marks the end of Lent so why not go all out with a decadent and delicious meal to celebrate? Make it clear from the start that your guests are in for an opulent banquet with a foie gras and port terrine accompanied by toasted brioche and fruity chutney, followed by traditionally roasted lamb in whichever form is your preference.

Get creative with dessert – think chocolate torte, served in individually spun sugar nests, or white chocolate eggs filled with passion fruit mousse served in eggcups. Make sure the presentation of your pudding puts a smile on your guests’ faces before they’ve even taken their first bite.

In case your mind isn’t already overflowing with ideas of how to decorate your tables, may we suggest pastel coloured tablecloths covered in moss and flowers, with a blossoming Easter tree as a centrepiece surrounded by pretty flickering candles. In keeping with seasonal shades, mini macaroons in a range of pastel shades would make the perfect wedding favours, too.
