Escort Card Tips

Escort cards are a great way of showing your creative side and adding a touch of personality to your wedding occasion or pushing your theme (if you have one) to its limits. There are so many ways you can create something that will give a wow-factor to your day, below are some tips to keep in mind when deciding how to display your cards.

  1. It’s important to think practically as well as creatively as making escort cards and a display for them can be surprisingly time consuming. Think about how your guests will view the cards and remove them from the display. If the design is too complicated, many may not bother.
  2. It’s a good idea to give the creating of the cards and display to your bridesmaids and allow plenty of time for them to complete the task.
  3. Creating escort cards can be a very repetitive task so make a fun day of it and invite your bridesmaids/anyone who is willing to help round, supply some non-alcoholic drinks and nibbles to keep them going. Keep it an alcoholic-free occasion as there will need a steady hand and good concentration.
  4. Prep as much as possible before the day and if you can complete the escort cards and the display before the wedding day, even better.
  5. Over estimate quantities to allow for mistakes. For example, if you are using ribbon to tie up the cards to a tree that needs to be hung on the day, pre-cut the ribbon and tie it to the cards leaving a metre length of ribbon hanging from the card. When you come to arranging and hanging on the tree on the day, you will have enough to play around with different lengths.
  6. Windy or wet weather can effect what you decide to create. Think about a wet weather option. For example, something that can be moved easily and quickly inside that won’t affect the quality or effect that you want to achieve.
  7. Keep it simple, remember that this is a small element of your day and something many guests may not appreciate or remember.

Escort cards are a brilliant way to bring your friends and family together, whether they are part of creating them or they come together to admire and interact with the creation on the day. You can see some of our past creations for clients on our Instagram and Pinterest accounts.
