Floral Arch Styling for Weddings

If you want to make a spectacular focal point for your wedding ceremony, you should definitely consider a floral arch beneath which to say your vows. It’s an opulent, dramatic and pretty choice that really allows you to put your stamp on the space in your wedding venue.

You may be familiar with more traditional floral arches that are typically seen over the lychgate or porch of a church. This a beautiful way of making an entrance and giving your guests a stunning first impression of a wedding. You can keep it as sweet and simple as you like or pack that doorway with as many blooms as possible, which, in turn, will fill the church with a heady, floral aroma throughout your wedding service.

For outdoor wedding ceremonies, floral archways are perfect for giving some structure to the space. We’ve seen everything from the most flamboyant of canopies to the most basic of stick constructions, but they all add a certain romance to the proceedings. You will be able to best decide whether you’re the type of couple that wants to say ‘I do’ beneath an entire cosmos of flowers, or whether you’d be happier with a more rustic version with a simple smattering of asymmetric flowers.

You don’t necessarily need to construct a whole new arch, however. The space in which you’re getting married may just offer the perfect solution in the form of a garden gate or archway in a wall. We love the idea of repurposing a cast iron garden doorway or a forgotten garden ruin as a floral arch. Think with a Victorian perspective and you may find that the most incognito mound of rubble would actually be the perfect setting for a romantic wedding ceremony.

Of course, floral arches don’t just have to consist of beautiful blooms. Consider styling them with garlands of crystals or pearls to make sure your canopy is dripping with glamour, or ensure there’s room to attach lanterns or candles for unbridled romance.

Here in the UK, we’re not always blessed with great weather that facilitates a beautiful outdoor wedding but we don’t think that’s reason enough to disregard the concept of a floral arch.

Whether you’re bringing the outdoors inside with blossoming cherry trees sculpted into your arch or creating a flower-filled chuppah for a Jewish wedding, we wholeheartedly encourage you to make a statement with your floral installations.
